When ancient people built the pyramids with the use of rammed earth for building blocks and primitive building equipments, modern science and architecture never expected people to continue to marvel at its structural integrity. Surprisingly, not just the pyramids but almost all of the ancient structures around the world have stood through the test of time with old fashioned construction methods.
Today, technology has made everything a lot easier, faster, stronger and cost-efficient. Scientific breakthroughs on stronger construction materials, well coordinated and calculated structural frameworks, very effective power tools and easy-to-handle heavy equipments are but a few of these technological innovations that have made the existence of modern day Herculean infrastructures possible.
Along with advantages, technology also has its disadvantages. Health related issues on chemicals in construction materials, ecological damage, hazardous equipments, safety problems in construction sites and unstable infrastructures are some of the drawbacks of technology.
However, people are looking for ways to solve the problems arising from modern development. More effective, safer and eco-friendly approaches are now being utilized to control the increasing number of threats brought about by industrialization.
Unlike the old days, we’ve forgotten to the idea that working hand in hand and giving back instead of just taking are some of the basic yet essential things that our modern ways lack. Bottom line is, learning from the ancient ways may just help us create structures that have stood the test of time.
